Kanashsky District

Kanashsky District (Russian: Канашский райо́н; Chuvash: Канаш районĕ) is an administrative and municipal district (raion) of the Chuvash Republic, Russia. It is located in the central portion of the republic and borders with Tsivilsky and Krasnarmeysky Districts in the north, Urmarsky and Yantikovsky Districts in the east, Komsomolsky and Ibresinsky Districts in the south, and Vurnarsky District in the west. The area of the district is 981.4 square kilometers (378.9 sq mi). Its administrative center is the town of Kanash (which is not administratively a part of the district). District's population: 39,729 (2010 Census preliminary results);[1] 42,623 (2002 Census);[2] 46,236 (1989 Census).[3]

The district was formed on September 5, 1927.

The Head of the District Administration is Vladislav Vasilyevich Sofronov.
